About Laura
Laura is based in San Jose and is studying at San Jose State University where she is working towards a BA in Theatre Arts with a minor in Musical Theatre. Laura currently holds an AA in Music, as well as an AA in Theater Arts. Laura is currently serving as the music director for SJSU's Anti-Club Theatre Club. Acting credits include Marisol, Stage Door, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Beauty and the Beast, Guys and Dolls, James and the Giant Peach, and The Music Man. Laura currently takes private voice instruction from Jacque Wilson Scharlach.
As a multi-faceted musician, Laura has had experience both as a vocalist and an instrumentalist. She attended Amador Valley High School where she was a part of the choir, drama, and band programs. She played flute and piccolo in Amador’s marching band for four years and was in Amador’s top instrumental ensemble Wind Ensemble I. With this group, Laura has had the opportunity to perform all around the Bay Area, participating in music festivals. During her time in Wind Ensemble I, the ensemble performed at the California All-State Music Education Conference. The group has also traveled to New York City to participate in the Distinguished Concerts in New York Concert performing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. At Las Positas College, Laura was an active participant in all three choirs the college had to offer and served as section leader in all of the groups in her 2.5 years in attendance.
Professionally, Laura worked as the Production Assistant for the Pleasanton Youth Theater Company. In this position, Laura oversaw the company’s summer drama camp program which brings arts education to hundreds of children in the Tri-Valley Area through a multitude of camps.
When she is not performing Laura can be found working on a new crochet project, spending time with her friends and family, jamming out to Broadway Cast Recordings, and of course, snuggling with her golden retriever Opal.
